Synopsis

Dr. Holk lives a solitary life. He has run away from love and civilization, to a tropical faraway land which is overrun by a mysterious fever known as the Amok. When a young English woman comes to him in need of an abortion, Holk's principles prevent him from coming to her aid. Instead, she goes to an old woman and dies during the operation. Holk has only time to vow that the real cause of her death shall never be revealed.
