Synopsis

Paris, 1839. The mime Jean-Gaspard Debureau is a hit at the Théâtre des Funambules. He falls in love with Marie Duplessis who soon chooses another, Armand Duval. After seven years waiting for Marie, an embittered Debureau forbids his son from using the name Debureau on stage. Only a visit to Marie will rekindle his love of the stage and allow his son to take up the flame.
