Synopsis
Aftan, chief of the Tarquis, saves a young woman from a caravan of looters. Madeleine falls in love with her savior and they decide to marry. But Aftan comes to understand he can never assimilate with the Europeans and he goes back to the beautiful poetess Dassine.
