Synopsis

A retired French Colonel, Raoul Duplan is found in his home with a bullet in his head: an assassination with no apparent reason. Anonymous letters seem to indicate that four people who knew Duplan during the summer of 1958 when he was commanding the garrison in the town of Saint-Arnaud during the Algerian war of Independence, might know why the Colonel was assassinated. The letters end with "The Colonel died in Saint Arnaud".
