Synopsis

In 1770, young Lieut. Griniev, disgraced, is sent to Bielogorsk, in the middle of Nowhere, Russia. On the way, finds a muzhik dying in the snow and saves him. When he arrives at the fort, he is under the orders of Captain Mironov and when the fort is attacked, he is saved by the same man he helped.
